What do I have to do to put a score in?

In our indoor tournament, you are required to shoot 3 arrows at each, for a total of 10 ends.  This is a total of 30 arrows, giving the archer a chance to score up to 300. For our newer archers, you will need to speak to Ruth or Sue to work out your distance and target face size before you begin the event. As you will need to continue to shoot this distance and target face size for the duration of the tournament.  Most of our more experienced archers/members will be expected to shoot at 18 meters on a 40cm target face.  

Where do I get my scoresheets and how do I submit them?

Scoresheets are found in the small drawers sitting on top of the red filling cabinet. You must fill out a Phoenix scoring sheet for it to be valid. Each scoresheet needs to be witnessed by another club member before submitting score. Please note that members from the same family can not witness each other's score sheets. 

A drawer will be clearly marked for Scoresheet entries.   

• It is important that you clearly DATE your scoresheet. (X's) are marked for the inner 10 ring and 10's and marked for the outer 10 ring. If you miss a shoot, this is marked down as a M for miss. 
• Compound shooters only get a 10 for the inner 10 ring, the outer 10 ring is scored as a 9. 
• Any arrow that hits the line, the higher of the two is scored, if you are unsure of a line call, always call over Ruth or Sue. 

What is a Handicap and how will my handicap work? 

We take your best 3 scores from your handicap scoring round. We encourage you to shoot as many rounds as you can over the handicap round of Feb, March, April & May. Please note that you will be required to lodge a minimum of 3 scores, one per month, in the handicap scoring rounds to obtain a handicap.

 

• Once the handicap round is finished, we will grab your best 3 scores, let's say this was 196, 189 and 186. We will then add your 3 best scores together and divide that by 3, giving you an average score of 190.
• The perfect score in archery using 3 arrows and end over 10 ends is 300. 
• Your handicap will make up the difference between your average score and the maximum score possible is 300.  In this case, with your average score being 190, your handicap will be 110.  (300-190=110)

Once round 1 begins in June, you can shoot as many rounds as you like, we will only take your highest score.  If your highest score for June is 197, we will then add your handicap to your score of 110, which will make your total score 307. (197+110)

Your Handicap is adjusted accordingly each month to reflect your new score. After May we will add 196, 189, 186 + your June score of 197 and then divide by 4 to work out your new average score. In this case, it will be 192. The difference now makes your new handicap for June (300-192=) 108 which will be added to your June's highest score. 

This will happen after each month and you will need to obtain and know your new handicap when scoring. 

As you can see with this form of scoring, our experienced archers will have a very low handicap and our newest archers will receive a higher handicap. This helps to level out the playing field and makes the tournament interesting for all.

Please note absolutely no late entries can be accepted during any round of the event. (Example: a August scoring round can not be accepted in September)
